The Perfect BBQ Red …
Summer vibes are officially in effect and while many of us reach for more whites & rose this time of year, there’s always a thirst for a delicious red. Especially when our plates fill up with BBQ glazed proteins or grilled veggies dusted with seasoning. When the food is good and the friends are plentiful, the wine tends to flow – so often times we’re left looking for a ‘patio pounder’ to please both our palate and our wallet. Today’s wine checks both boxes with style.
Bodegas Sierra Salinas has been a quality powerhouse in Spain’s warm climate of Alicante since it’s inception in 2000. The sun drenched vineyards here coupled with the rocky, limestone soils are perfect for Monastrell (a.k.a Mourvèdre or Mataro) to reach it’s full potential. While everything to bottled at this estate merits attention, today we bring highlight to their “Mo”. An entry level red meant to offer up pleasurable sipping while showcasing the Sierra Salinas style and the region’s signature warm climate reds.
The 2019 Mo Monastrell recently hit our tasting team’s desk and to no surprise, our purple stained lips couldn’t stop praising this wine for it’s delicious drinkability and moreover, it’s humble price tag. If you find yourself huddled around a rack of ribs, braised brisket or vegetable kebabs – this is a must have red for your glass.
