Lafite Red Under $20 Will Blow You Away

Today’s wine is from an estate led by the famous Rothschild family of Chateau Lafite fame.  Crafted in Chile, at a property acquired by the Rothschild’s in the late 1980s.  In true Rothschild fashion a significant investment was made into vineyards & winemaking equipment to transcend conventional quality standards which dominated the Chilean winemaking scene.  It was this infusion of Bordelais know-how to the property’s unique exposition which has led to one of Chile’s greatest labels – Los Vacos.

Over the past few decades, Los Vascos has released a number of wines on the entry level (under $11) as well as producing a flagship red ($75+) yet never fully exploited the significant gap in quality between the two.  Until now ... enter Cromas, a series of wines meant to represent the best of Chilean terroir and power, coupled to French nuance.   And while they have several wines in this range, it was the Carmenere which has truly impressed us as of late.    

Carmenere is Chile’s signature grape varietal, known for medium to full bodied flavors with generous fruit, savory herb and a vibrant sense of structure.  Los Vascos Cromas Carmenere finds it’s debut in the 2019 vintage and it benefits from some time in bottle.  Anyone to grab some of this beautiful red will see it's just now starting to showoff some of it's age.  Enjoy this pedigreed red for just $19.99 on sale.
